Motivation of making a site for 0 users
Over the past few days I've been adding many fixes to the server, and new stuff, to this website specifically. In previous news posts i always complained how the server has little to no players, and how I'm doing it as a passion project.
Well, one of my dreams when I first made marCloud was to have the BEST website for a server. Have everything that's in-game accessible on the website, so when the player would be at school, they could flex their stats to their classmates. (I was in elementary school at the time, so such flexes meant a lot).
Many server have this nowadays, but back then, it was only exclusive to those who had skilled developers enough to build larger apps connected together, as most people downloaded plugins off SpigotMC and claimed elses work as their own. But websites at the time with player stats, profiles, real-time content linked with the in-game stuff was rare.
So I'm fulfilling the dream now — building a cool thing I always wanted, as my skills are now good enough™. Since marCloud will be online forever (as I always promise), I might as well just spend some time to make something cool and maybe one day if the server gets popular, everything I've done will be appreciated.
Also the em-dash above is real. On Linux when you press SHIFT+RIGHT ALT+- you get an em—dash. No AI slop will ever be posted on this site. Or anywhere where I lead. Ew.
Player profiles
I wanted to create a way for the players to express themselves. Basically a social media for the marCloud community (except we won't collect or sell user data). Or rather, a steam profile page, but for marCloud.
The end goal is to have users be able to customize it visually with obtainable in-game designs or colors, have a friend list, game stats, and more. A cool little part of the server.
Of course, if one doesn't want it visible publicly, they can opt out in-game. (The command isn't done yet, will be soon tho, probably). Or customize what's visible publicly and what isn't.

Game overviews
Each game has its own subpage now, with more content (media, map lists) coming soon.
All relevant changelog entries, and news posts are included, so everything relevant is in one place. #clean
Conclusion
More stuff to come. I'm also working on another project lead by my wife, so my streak of daily marCloudMC commits might end soon. But will 100% remain somewhat consistent.
